Robert M. O'Neil (right) who served as president of the University of Virginia and the University of Wisconsin System, died Sunday at the age of 83. In addition to being an influential university administrator, he was for many years a law professor devoted to study of the First Amendment and to promoting ideas of free expression and academic freedom. He served three terms as general counsel of the American Association of University Professors. A full obituary from the University of Virginia may be found here.
